Recently, Google has implemented some major changes in dimensions and metrics in Google Analytics. Google has changed names of some of the dimensions and metrics while it has also announced that few dimensions and metrics will be deprecated and replaced in near future. In order to prevent your Tatvic Excel Plugin dashboards from disruption, we have prepared lists of such changes and jotted down in this Google Spreadsheet.
It is important to note that current dimensions/metrics will remain active for another six months only and will return error if you don’t update your dashboard with new dimensions/metrics.
According to the changelog, the original column(s) will continue to work in reporting queries for a maximum of 6 months. After 6 months, the original column(s) will be removed from the Metadata API and querying for the column(s) in the reporting API will result in a 400 Bad Request error.
The spreadsheet has 4 Sheets namely Dimension name changes, Metric name changes, Dimension deprecated and Metric deprecated where,
1) Dimension Name Changes:
Dimensions covered in this list have new names and you will automatically see their new names in the dashboard. For example Page Path will now be seen as Page in your dashboard.
2) Metric Name Changes:
Metrics covered in this list have new names and you will automatically see their new names in the dashboard. For example Social Interactions will now be seen as Social Actions in your dashboard.
3) Dimension Deprecated:
Dimensions mentioned in this sheet are deprecated and must be replaced with a new dimension as shown in the spreadsheet. Example: the dimension Visitor Type is deprecated and should be replaced with User Type in your dashboard.
4) Metric Deprecated:
Metrics mentioned in this sheet are deprecated and must be replaced with a new metric as shown in the spreadsheet. Example: Visit metric is now deprecated and should be replaced with Sessions metric in your dashboard.
